Today I am introducing another one of my fabulous Senior Models, Gabby! Not only is Gabby a senior model, she was my assistant last year and this girl did such a great job! Also, she is the one who named my reflector, Derek (for all of my seniors who have worked with him :) ).
Gabby is a 2016 senior at James Clemens High School is also super involved with the JC Theater as a set designer/costumer/make-up artist. Yes, this girl is THAT talented! I know that they are going to miss her when she finishes school in December and starts at Cosmetology school in January. But hey, I can't wait for her to start doing my hair ;)
For Gabby session she had a very clear vision of what she wanted (I guess it was from watching all my 2015 seniors!) so when we looked at her awesome preppy style we knew that an urban setting was a perfect match. Rachel, our hair and makeup artist, went for a more natural eye palette to make Gabby's green peepers pop, a soft pink glow, and a nude pink lip that looks fabulous with her skin tone! Her looks were finished with some beautiful waves and we were ready to go!
I loved getting to spend the afternoon with Gabby and her mom! We spent the whole session laughing and it was fun for me to watch Gabby come out of her shell and have fun. I am definitely missing this sweet girl as my assistant but I know she's moving on to bigger and better things! <3
Since I didn't get a chance to share several of my 2015 seniors and they are starting their freshman year of college, I wanted to start a Throwback Thursday series to honor them!
So our first Senior Throwback is Sydney! I had so much fun photographing Sydney this past January. On the day of her session, it was so so cold (even though you can't tell in these sunny images) but Sydney was such a trooper. Her urban wardrobe made me drool and how stunning is that ball gown?! It was such a pleasure to get to work with her and I am so excited to see what she will do this year!
Sydney graduated from Huntsville High School in May and is now starting at Troy University! Plus last week, she got a bid from Phi Mu Troy chapter! Congratulations Sydney and good luck with your freshman year!
It is my pleasure to introduce Miss Abbi, another one of my stunning 2016 senior models! Abbi is starting her senior year at Bob Jones High School (tomorrow!!) and is on the Bob Jones Cheer Squad! Not only does she cheer for school, but she also cheers competitively for a gym in town... This girl is always on the go!
Abbi's brother, Jake, was my last 2015 senior of the year and she was my first 2016 senior of the year! How awesome is that? I love photographing siblings because it is fun to create cohesive images for the family while capturing each senior's individuality! Also, it's super fun to get to keep a consistent relationship with my really awesome families :)
Abbi chose the Luxe Experience for her senior portraits so we got to photograph a ton of different outfits and locations! When Rachel, our hair and makeup artist, was prepping Abbi, we knew that we wanted to definitely play up Abbi's gorgeous skin tone. We did that with a neutral eye palette and a bold pink lip. Abbi wanted waves for her first look and from there we went to a boho braid and then an old hollywood side swept look. This girl looks like a 1930's movie star!!
I always have so much fun photographing this gorgeous girl and I can't wait to see where this next year will take us! Have a great first day of school tomorrow, Abbi!!
It is my pleasure to introduce my first 2016 Senior Model, Lexie! Lexie is a senior at James Clemens High School and would like to go into journalism/broadcasting next year at Ole Miss. Lexie is a girl after my own heart because she is also into photography!
I have loved getting to know Lexie (and her mom) better during this whole experience! On the day of her session we started with hair and makeup and picking out wardrobe options. It was quite evident that Lexie is into the boho style so I knew that we had to shoot in some fields. Lexie wanted wavy hair and a natural look for her hair and makeup. Rachel, our hair and makeup artist, was able to compliment Lexie's flowing locks and doe eyes perfectly! This girl could seriously be a Disney Princess!!!
So despite the ridiculous mosquitoes swarm (I STILL have scars from those boogers :( ) and the heat we had a lovely session. The lighting was so so gorgeous and all that green looks amazing!
I am having such a fun time blogging these past sessions! Next on the blog: Ashley, Bob Jones High School Class of 2015!
I had such a fantastic time with Ashley and her mom! We started the afternoon at the coffee shop capturing a modern day 'Breakfast at Tiffany's' with a twist. Then we went and stomped around in a field and captured some of the fun! From the first meeting with Ashley and her mom, they told me about this pink, girly, princess dress and when I saw it, I died! I love capturing a good a princess dress, complete with twirling and dancing! The best part was that the weather was perfect until the very last shot and it started pouring as we ran to our cars and drove away! Talk about a lucky day :)
Here is what Ashley's mom, Shelia, said about her session: "Thank you Alex for a wonderful senior portrait experience! You and Karlie really went the extra mile to give Ashley a great experience! I was so impressed by your willingness to trample through a field, ripping up weeds, dodging bugs, ect in order to get what I'm sure will be fantastic senior pictures! I can not wait to see them! Thanks again!"
Thanks again, Ashley, for choosing the AWP Senior Portrait Experience! Congratulations and good luck with your amazing future as a UAB Blazer!
Meet Alyssa, Life Christian Academy 2015 senior!
It was such an honor to get to photograph Alyssa because I photographed her older sister, Abby, when she graduated in 2013! I have gotten to know Alyssa and her precious family over the last few years and I am honored by their friendship!
Alyssa's session was actually a very special one because we were apart of a nation wide campaign called Beauty Revived. Beauty Revived is about capturing the true beauty in the world around us. It's about showcasing the women that are strong, courageous, loving, kind, giving, and unique - It's about capturing the beauty within. Alyssa is most definitely one of those women!
I so enjoyed spending the time with Alyssa, her mom, and sister and getting to celebrate the truly beautiful Alyssa! From picking out her outfits, to choosing her hair and make-up, to actually shooting her session in Downtown Huntsville, that afternoon was truly a blessing to be apart of!
Congratulations, Alyssa! I am so excited to see what you will do in the bright future ahead of you!!

Meet Abby, a 2015 James Clemons senior and a fantastic dancer. I absolutely love photographing dancers and Abby was no exception! There is such an elegance and gracefulness about dancers. I love paring that elegance with the grungy-ness of a downtown setting. Despite the fact that it was raining (when it wasn't suppose to, might I add) at the beginning of our session, we ended the evening with a gorgeous sunset! Congratulations on your senior year, Abby!

Today I am starting a new segment called "Fashion Forward Fridays". Every Friday I will showcase a fashion trend that is current!
I celebrated America's 238th birthday on the lake at Joe Wheeler State park and it was absolutely wonderful! We were there for a family reunion the next day so we got to spend plenty of time with family we hadn't seen in a while. It was a new kind of 4th, we had no fireworks, didn't watch any sports games, or spend all day by a pool. We just spent the day grilling with family and learning more about our family's history. It made me wondering if the people before us celebrated differently. If they celebrated the joyous birthday of our country with family and nice meal, while reflecting on the history of our country.
As we were leaving town on Thursday, I got the best idea to have a patriotic shoot. Of course, we had nothing red or white or really even blue, but thankfully Zoe packed those adorable shorts. Before our shoot on Friday, we drove to Target to get a red tee-shirt and we were all set!
The state park offers an awesome lakeside view with some beautiful boats docked. Once we got there, I knew that we had to shoot on the docks! Thankfully, the weather was perfect that weekend, hardly any humidity (which is so rare for an Alabama July) and a gorgeous 75 degrees. Thanks again to Zoe for being my silly model and Karen for being an awesome assistant!
When I first accepted my five, beautiful senior models, never did I think that they would become more than reps or girls I photograph. I have loved getting to spend time with these lovely, funny, generous, and sweet girls. I have loved getting to know their personalities, their likes and dislikes, and being able to celebrate them! It warms my heart to see them interacting with one another on each other's social media pages and becoming friends.
In June, I wanted to put together a shoot to kick off summer. I wanted it to be fun, memorable, and just represent the awesomeness that is summer! Thankfully, I had three hair & make-up girls so we were able to whiz on through and get to shooting at my favorite locations! After we enjoyed some cupcakes, walked through some fields, and fought off the mosquitoes, we enjoyed an awesome dinner together! I love these sweet girls and I am so blessed to be able to spend an awesome day together!
