I celebrated America's 238th birthday on the lake at Joe Wheeler State park and it was absolutely wonderful! We were there for a family reunion the next day so we got to spend plenty of time with family we hadn't seen in a while. It was a new kind of 4th, we had no fireworks, didn't watch any sports games, or spend all day by a pool. We just spent the day grilling with family and learning more about our family's history. It made me wondering if the people before us celebrated differently. If they celebrated the joyous birthday of our country with family and nice meal, while reflecting on the history of our country.
As we were leaving town on Thursday, I got the best idea to have a patriotic shoot. Of course, we had nothing red or white or really even blue, but thankfully Zoe packed those adorable shorts. Before our shoot on Friday, we drove to Target to get a red tee-shirt and we were all set!
The state park offers an awesome lakeside view with some beautiful boats docked. Once we got there, I knew that we had to shoot on the docks! Thankfully, the weather was perfect that weekend, hardly any humidity (which is so rare for an Alabama July) and a gorgeous 75 degrees. Thanks again to Zoe for being my silly model and Karen for being an awesome assistant!
